Ladybird Series: "British Wild Animals"

"Following the 'Pond and River Birds' vintage Ladybird book cover made for the Embroiderers Guild Page 17 exhibition, I am ow developing a few in the series. This one is very appropriate to where I live in the Forest of Dean. I see wild deer in the local woods regularly and each time it is a special, magical experience because they seem to appear from no where and are always silent." ~ Sara

Rabbit on a Hound!

"The beauty and humour of the Rabbit riding the Hound blowing a horn is just such fun. The Hound is bounding along and the Rabbit appears huge. Medieval images found in the psalter at the Fitzwilliam Museum are drawn with sensitivity and imagination. In my version I thought the animals should be in a garden of wild flowers. The idea of the Rabbit blowing flowers out of his horn as he races along seemed appropriate with the madness of the Spring March Hare." ~ Sara

Homage to Bert Irvin Tooley...

'Homage to Bert Irvin Tooley with Two Birds' "Bert Irvin is one of my favourite abstract painters and I have an original print of his 'Tooley' hanging in my home. The colours are so vibrant I wanted to contrast the colours of the birds plumage against those in the print." ~ Sara

Horatio goes to work!

"Mr Horatio Hare has now got a job as the 'Face' of the Blue Heart Campaign supporting bio-diversity and wildlife. He will be taken to schools and public places to support the campaign both locally in the south-west and nationally to promote the importance of letting wildflowers grow and encouraging insects into our gardens. This photo shows Mr Horatio Hare with BBC Nature documentary producer Fergus Beeley who is heading the campaign." ~ Sara
